The recipient and a trusted setup partner complete one shared orientation. No telephone registration or setup assistance is offered.

Have these people ready

  • The recipient: the person who will receive scheduled check-in calls.
  • A trusted setup partner: someone who can accept the first Alert Mate role and may choose to become Backstop.
  • Another trusted person: this person becomes an ordinary Alert Mate when the setup partner chooses Backstop; otherwise, this person accepts the required Backstop role.

What happens next

  1. Validate the recipient’s number and record their consent.
  2. Validate the setup partner separately and obtain their own agreement.
  3. Confirm an ordinary Alert Mate and a separate Backstop.
  4. Run a clearly labeled demonstration of a missed check-in.
  5. Begin the five-day test drive when registration, roles, and consent are complete.
